Old Fence Rider Museum

About the Museum

After more than 30 years of bringing educational joy to children of all ages, we are sad to announce that The Old Fence Rider Museum is now closed.

The Village of Edmore would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Carmon (Carm) and Shirley Drain for their vision for the Museum and their tireless efforts to see the Museum become a reality by opening its doors in the early 1990’s. Carm and Shirley poured their hearts, souls, and money into The Old Fence Rider Museum for over 30 years, and we owe them a huge debt of gratitude that could never be repaid.

The Drains worked at the Museum for many years giving tours to school groups and visitors from the Edmore area and from around the state. The Museum also had a group of dedicated volunteers to provide tours during operating hours. A special note of thanks also goes out to the volunteers, including Lon Leonard, the Museum Board President as well as the members of the Museum Board. Lon has also dedicated over 30 years of his time to the Museum.

The Old Fence Rider Museum donated the museum, with all of the contents to the Village of Edmore. The village is working with Montcalm Community College to donate the contents of the museum to the college as they prepare to open a memorial museum on their Sidney Campus.
