Edmore Market Place

The General Bag Company of Cleveland, Ohio in which the name of the building is referred by residents in the area was active in manufacturing potato bags in the facility until the 1990s. The building and site sat vacant for a number of years and became a target for vandalism with the property becoming overgrown with scrub trees and bushes. It was purchased by the Village of Edmore Downtown Development Authority with the plan to develop the building and property into a destination because of its location, potential and advantages of its proximity to the Fred Meijer Heartland Trail and M-46. A new roof, trusses and posts were installed by the local Amish in 2011 to protect the building from the elements as funding has become secured.
The General Bag Factory Building is quite large; three floors with approximately 8,750 square feet per floor for a total area of 26,250 square feet. It is of brick frame construction with old-fashioned heavy wood bracing.
Today the the General Bag Factory Building is fully renovated event space that has hosted a variety of events including weddings, proms, and our annual Christmas Ball. The Bag Factory is available for your weekend rentals. For more information contact the buildings caretaker, Phil Garcia, at (989) 763-2569
